Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, New Life Recovery has implemented telemedicine appointments when appropriate and follows strict CDC guidelines for in office appointments, such as a mask mandate, social distancing, increased sanitation protocols and temperature checks.
- The COVID-19 pandemic is believed to have contributed to an approximate 13% spike in fatal drug overdoses in the United States in 2020.
- The CDC estimates nearly 20,000 individuals experienced a fatal overdose in the first 3 months of 2020 compared to an estimated 17,000 individuals in the same 3-month period in 2019. The agency also estimates nearly 75,500 fatal overdoses occurred between March 2019 and March 2020, rising approximately 10% nationwide.
- More than 40 states have reported an increase in opioid-related fatalities, as well as increased mental health concerns when dealing with pandemic-related emotions and stressors.
